Common Troubleshooting Methods And Daily Maintenance Of Boiler Feed Water Pumps

Sep 21, 2024

The boiler feed pump is crucial for the safe and stable operation of the boiler system, and is an important component of the boiler automatic liquid level regulation system designed and constructed using modern automatic control technology. Once the feed pump fails, it will seriously endanger the operation safety of the boiler and even lead to major accidents.

Therefore, daily maintenance and repair of the boiler system feedwater pump is essential.
Common faults and solutions of boiler feed water pump

1. The boiler water pump does not absorb water, and the pointers of the pressure gauge and vacuum gauge jump violently. The water injected into the water pump is not enough, and it should be refilled with water, tightened or blocked at the leakage point.

2. The boiler water pump is not sucking water, and the vacuum gauge shows that the vacuum inlet pipe is not open or blocked. The reason is that the suction resistance is too high, and the suction height exceeds the allowable value. Check the inlet pipe. When this situation occurs, you can solve it by cleaning or replacing the suction pipe and reducing the suction height.

3. Check the pressure gauge to see if there is pressure at the outlet of the water pump, but the water pump still does not discharge water. The resistance in the outlet pipe is too high due to incorrect rotation direction, clogged impeller, and insufficient water pump speed. When this situation occurs, the outlet pipe should be checked or shortened, the motor direction should be changed, the impeller should be cleaned, and the water pump shaft speed should be increased to solve the problem.

4. The flow rate is lower than the expected pump blockage; Excessive wear of the sealing ring; The rotational speed is insufficient. The water pump and pipeline should be cleaned, the sealing ring should be replaced, and the speed of the water pump shaft should be increased.

5. The power consumption of the boiler water pump is too high, the packing cover is too tight, and the impeller is worn. The gate valve should be adjusted to reduce the flow rate, the packing cover should be loosened or the packing should be removed and replaced.

6. During the operation of the boiler feed pump, abnormal sounds occur, the flow rate decreases until no water is discharged, the balance device wears out early, the gate valve is opened too much, the resistance of the suction pipe is too high, air infiltrates at the suction point, the suction height is too high, and the temperature of the conveyed liquid is too high. When encountering these situations, the gate valve should be adjusted to reduce the flow rate, the suction pipe should be checked, the bottom valve should be checked, the suction height should be reduced, the leakage point should be tightened or blocked, and the liquid temperature should be lowered.

7. The vibration pump shaft and motor axis are not on the same centerline, so the centerlines of the pump and motor shafts should be aligned.

8. If the bearing is overheated and there is no oil or dirty oil, it should be oiled or replaced at this time.

The daily maintenance of modern boiler feedwater pumps must be aimed at fault prevention, establishing a scientific maintenance system and system to guide the daily maintenance work of feedwater pumps.

Establish a record of water pump component failures and replacements, with a detailed understanding of the damage time of each component, in order to facilitate timely replacement before the components reach their service life, and to avoid damage to the unit caused by delayed discovery of damaged components (such as bearings).

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the maintenance of the lubrication system of the water supply pump, regularly check the amount of lubricating oil, lubricate the components in a timely manner, and avoid the occurrence of "dry grinding" and other situations.

Before adding lubricating oil, it is important to check the quality of the oil and the cleanliness of the inlet to prevent impurities from damaging the bearings during the addition process. During maintenance, attention should also be paid to the inspection and maintenance of the water supply pump system pipeline, timely plugging of leaks, regular inspection of the anti rust coating on the outside of the pipeline, and timely spraying of coating peeling areas to ensure the anti-corrosion properties of the pipeline.

During maintenance, it is also necessary to pay attention to the inspection and maintenance of the water source treatment system of the water supply pump.
