How To Repair The Impeller Of A Submersible Pump

Oct 09, 2024

1, Identify the cause of impeller damage

If the submersible pump cannot work properly, it may be caused by damage to the impeller. Damaged impellers can cause problems such as reduced water flow, abnormal noise, or no water flow. Therefore, before repairing the submersible pump, it is necessary to first confirm whether the impeller is damaged. The general identification method is as follows:

1. Observe the water flow: If the water flow decreases or produces abnormal noise, it may be caused by damage to the impeller;

2. Check the water inlet: Disassemble the water inlet and check if there are any foreign objects stuck or severely worn on the impeller;

3. Smell: If the water pump has a burnt smell, it indicates that the motor is overloaded or the impeller is severely blocked, and it needs to be stopped immediately for inspection.

2, Disassemble the impeller

If it is confirmed that the impeller is damaged, it needs to be disassembled. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Turn off the power: Ensure that the pump is in a power-off state;

2. Drain the water pump: Drain the water inside the pump;

3. Disassemble the inlet and outlet pipes: Disassemble the inlet and outlet pipes, and remove the bearing bracket;

4. Disassemble the impeller: Remove the impeller nut and disassemble the impeller.

3, Repair or replace the impeller

After disassembling the impeller, it is necessary to repair or replace it according to the degree of damage. If it is a minor scratch, sandpaper can be used for polishing. If the impeller is severely worn, it needs to be replaced. When replacing the impeller, it is necessary to purchase an impeller of the same specifications as the original impeller, and the following precautions should be taken for correct installation:

1. During installation, the parts that come into contact with the pump should be plugged with stainless steel to prevent impurities, mud, and other substances from entering the pump.

2.Before installation, clean the impeller with soapy water to maintain cleanliness.

3. After installation, the impeller should be adjusted and tested to check if it rotates normally after being adjusted to the appropriate position.

Repairing the impeller of a submersible pump requires certain technical and safety knowledge. Those who do not understand maintenance should not attempt it easily to avoid danger.
