Centrifugal Pump Hearing Failure

Jan 20, 2021

First, abnormal sound of rolling bearing

1. If the amount of oil in the bearing body is insufficient, the rolling bearing will emit a uniform whistle during operation. When the rolling bearing inner and outer ring raceway surface or rolling element surface peeling occurs, intermittent impact and beating will be issued during operation.

2. If the rolling bearing is damaged (including disconnection of the isolation frame, broken rolling elements, broken inner and outer rings, etc.), there will be cracking noises during operation. When the gap between the rolling element and the isolating frame is too large, a louder snoring sound may be emitted during operation.

Two, small flow abnormal sound

The noise of small flow is similar to the sound of cavitation, but some are louder, as if stones are thrown on the pump casing. This is a problem with the design of the tongue position of the centrifugal pump.

Three, cavitation noise

The sound brought by cavitation in a centrifugal pump is generally a crackling popping sound.

Four, loose abnormal sound

That is, the sound made by the rotor part loosening on the shaft. This sound is often periodic. It must be pointed out that the centrifugal pump running in this situation is very dangerous. In addition to the scratches caused by the swing of the rotor parts, it will also cause cracks in the impeller and fracture of the pump shaft (at the edge of the mating part).
