How To Install The Sealing Ring Of The Water Pump

The water pump sealing ring is an important mechanical sealing component of the water pump, including O-ring, Y-shaped sealing ring, etc. The installation of sealing ring in the water pump is mainly to prevent medium leakage and prevent foreign objects from entering the pump body, which poses a threat to the safe operation of the water pump. Taking the silicone sealing ring as an example, we will explain how to install the water pump sealing ring to prevent water leakage.

Installation method/steps for silicone sealing ring of water pump:
1. First, turn off the power supply of the water pump and hang a warning sign at the water pump power switch to prevent human error in turning on the power switch;
2. Loosen the screws on the end cover of the water pump in a symmetrical manner;
3. Remove the water pump motor and impeller completely. If there are screw holes on the pump cover, the impeller can be pushed out;
4. Loosen the fixing screw on the impeller with a socket wrench;
5. Use a Lamar to pull out the water pump impeller. If it cannot be pulled out, a small wooden block can be placed on the impeller, and a hammer can be used to slowly rotate the impeller. If it is a cast iron impeller, be careful to prevent Lamar from damaging the impeller.
6. After removing the impeller, check the condition of the water pump sealing ring. First, slowly pull out the moving ring and remove it. If it is tight, spray lubricating oil on the shaft and remove the moving ring.
7. After removing the dynamic ring, the machine seal static ring can be seen. Insert the static ring into the pump body mouth and gently pry it with a straight line. Pay attention to the L-shaped or O-shaped sealing ring outside the static ring and do not pry it apart;
8. Dismantle the damaged old sealing ring;
9. Install the sealing ring size corresponding to the water pump model;
10. Before installing the sealing ring, ensure that the shaft sleeve and gland are free of burrs, the bearing is in good operating condition, and the seals, shaft, sealing chamber, and gland are clean and free of obvious impurities. To reduce friction, a thin layer of lubricating oil can be applied to the pump shaft. If considering the adaptability of the rubber sealing ring, soap solution can also be used as a substitute. Floating static rings do not have anti rotation pin structures and are not suitable for lubricating oil application. They should be dry installed in the gland.

Final precautions for installing the silicone sealing ring of the water pump:
1. After the installation of the water pump sealing ring is completed, check whether there are any other items left in the pump body, then add lubricating grease to the drive shaft seat, and finally confirm whether everything has been installed normally. Confirm that there are no debris left in the pump body, and then install the water pump sealing machine cover;
2. When installing the water pump head, the plunger rod and pump head must be aligned and pushed in, otherwise the plunger rod will break;
3. The screws must be tightened to prevent safety accidents caused by loose screws.
