How To Prolong The Service Life Of Sewage Pump

Mar 07, 2022

1. Abnormal power supply voltage is prohibited

Because the low-voltage power supply line is relatively long, it is common that the terminal voltage of the line is too low. When the phase voltage is lower than 198 V and the line voltage is lower than 342 V, the speed of the sewage pump motor decreases. When it does not reach 70% of the rated speed, the starting centrifugal switch will be closed, causing the starting winding to be energized for a long time, heating and even burning the winding and capacitor. On the contrary, too high voltage causes the motor to overheat and burn out the winding. Therefore, during the operation of sewage pump, the operator must observe the power supply voltage at any time. If it is less than 10% lower than the rated voltage and more than 10% higher than the rated voltage, the motor shall be stopped to find out the cause and eliminate the fault.

2. Confirm the correct rotation direction of the motor

The rotation direction of the motor should be made clear. At present, many types of sewage pumps can discharge water during forward rotation and reverse rotation, but the water output is small and the current is large during reverse rotation. If the reverse rotation time is long, the motor winding will be damaged.

3. Installation of leakage protector

Leakage protector is also called life protector. Its function can be understood from the three words "life protector". Because the sewage pump works underwater, it is easy to leak electricity, resulting in power loss and even electric shock. If a leakage protector is installed, as long as the leakage value of the sewage pump exceeds the action current value of the leakage protector (generally no more than 30 MA), the leakage protector will cut off the power supply of the sewage pump to ensure safety and avoid leakage and waste of electric energy.

4. Insulation resistance requirements for cable installation and submersible pump

When installing the sewage pump, the cable should be overhead and the power line should not be too long. Do not force the cable when the sewage pump is discharged or raised, so as to avoid breaking the power line. Do not sink into the mud when the sewage pump is working, otherwise it will cause poor heat dissipation of the motor and burn out the motor winding. During installation, the insulation resistance of the motor shall not be less than 0.5 megohm.

5. Avoid frequent switching

Do not switch on and off the sewage pump frequently, because the return flow will occur when the electric pump stops running. If it is started immediately, the motor load will start, resulting in excessive starting current and burning out the winding. Due to the large current during startup, frequent startup will also burn out the motor winding of sewage pump.

6. Do not let the sewage pump work overload for a long time

7. In order to avoid long-term overload operation of the sewage pump, do not pump water with large sand content, and observe whether the current value is the value specified on the nameplate at any time. If the current is found to be too large, stop the machine for inspection. In addition, the dewatering operation time of the water pump should not be too long to avoid overheating and burning the motor.

7. Pay attention to daily maintenance

The motor shall be checked frequently at ordinary times. If cracks are found on the lower cover, damage or failure of the rubber sealing ring, etc., it shall be replaced or repaired in time to avoid water infiltration into the sewage pump.
