The Submersible Sewage Pump Is' Sick ', How To Save It?

Dec 28, 2025

Will submersible sewage pumps get sick? The answer to this question is definitely! Submersible sewage pumps have received increasing attention due to their wide range of applications and powerful sewage treatment capabilities. However, improper use and maintenance can lead to adverse reactions in submersible sewage pumps.

6 main reasons why submersible pumps get sick

1. Wrong motor rotation direction:

Before using the submersible sewage pump, please ensure that the motor rotation direction is correct. Even if water is generated through reverse rotation, the output of water is small and the current is large. Directional rotation can cause irreversible damage to the motor winding.

2. No leakage protector installed:

Leakage protectors are also known as life-saving devices. If the leakage value of the submersible sewage pump is higher than the working current value of the leak protector, the leak protector will cut off the power supply of the submersible pump to ensure equipment safety.

3. Turn on when the power supply is abnormal:

the difference between the power supply voltage and the rated voltage should not exceed 10%. If the voltage is too high or too low, the temperature of the submersible sewage pump will increase. If the power is turned on abnormally, the service life will be shortened or the submersible sewage pump will burn.

4. Long term dehydration operation of submersible sewage pumps:

As sewage pumps use water as cooling water, the electric motor may overheat and burn due to long-term dehydration.

5. Frequent opening and closing:

Frequent starting of submersible sewage pumps can affect their service life. When stopped, backflow will occur. If turned on immediately, the motor load will start, resulting in excessive starting current and winding combustion.

6. Without any maintenance:

If the submersible pump is not used continuously after startup, it will rust and fail to start. If not used for a long time, do not soak it in water for a long time. Place it in clean water and run for a few minutes to clean the mud inside and outside the pump.

How to extend the service life of submersible pumps

1. Replace the sealing ring:

After long-term use in sewage medium, the gap between the impeller and the sealing ring may increase, and it should be replaced in a timely manner.

2. Please store in a well ventilated and dry place:

If stored during idle periods, the pump should be slowly lifted from the water source and drained of water (especially in cold winter).

3. Regular inspection and replacement of accessories:

Check cables, motor insulation, and screws at least once a year. If damaged, it should be replaced promptly.

4. Change oil:

If the oil contains moisture, drain it, replace the oil, seal the gasket, and then tighten the plug.

5. Professional maintenance:

If the submersible sewage pump cannot work properly, do not disassemble and repair it without authorization, but immediately carry out professional maintenance.
