What Are The Safety Regulations For Using Submersible Pumps

Aug 18, 2025

Submersible pumps should preferably be installed in a sturdy basket before being placed in water, or surrounded by a robust protective screen when submerged. The pump must remain upright in water, with a minimum water depth of 0.5 meters, and should not be used in water containing excessive sediment.

When placing the submersible pump into or removing it from the water, the power supply must be disconnected first. Pulling on the cable or discharge pipe is strictly prohibited.

Submersible pumps must be equipped with protective grounding (PE) and leakage protection devices. During operation, no persons or animals should enter the water within a 30-meter radius of the pump.

Before starting, inspect and ensure the following:
(1) The water pipe is securely fastened;
(2) All air-release, drainage, and oil-filling screws are tightly closed;
(3) The impeller and inlet section are free of debris;
(4) The electrical insulation is in good condition.

After connecting to the power supply, conduct a trial run to verify the correct rotation direction. Dry-running time must not exceed the limit specified in the user manual.

Monitor water level changes regularly. The distance between the impeller center and the water surface should be maintained between 0.5 and 3.0 meters. The pump body must not sink into sludge or be exposed above the water surface. Avoid contact between the cable and well or pool walls.

The starting voltage must comply with the user manual specifications. If the current exceeds the rated value on the nameplate, shut down the pump for inspection. Frequent switching on/off should be avoided.

When not in use, the submersible pump should not remain submerged for extended periods and must be stored in a dry, ventilated indoor space.

The insulation resistance of the motor stator winding must not be lower than 0.5 MΩ.
