What Do We Need To Know About Centrifugal Pumps? (2)

Jun 19, 2025

1. What are the maintenance contents of the pump?

Seriously implement the job responsibility system and equipment maintenance rules and regulations.
The equipment lubrication should achieve "five determinations" and "three-level filtration", and the lubrication tools should be complete and clean.
Maintain complete and intact tools, safety facilities, fire-fighting equipment, etc., and place them neatly.

2. What are the standards for common shaft seal leaks?

Packing seal: Light oil less than 20 drops/minute, heavy oil less than 10 drops/minute
Mechanical seal: Light oil less than 10 drops/minute, heavy oil less than 5 drops/minute

3. Why can't the centrifugal pump start when it's not running?

If the centrifugal pump disc does not move, it indicates that there is an internal fault in the pump. This fault may be caused by the impeller being stuck or the pump shaft being excessively bent, or the dynamic and static parts of the pump rusting, or the pressure inside the pump being too high. If the pump disc is forcibly started without moving, the strong motor force will drive the pump shaft to rotate forcefully, which will cause damage to internal components such as pump shaft fracture, distortion, impeller breakage, motor coil burnout, and may also cause the motor to trip and fail to start.

4. What is the function of sealing oil?

Cooling sealing components; Lubrication friction pair; Prevent damage caused by evacuation.

5. Why do backup pumps need to be turned regularly?

The purpose of regular turning is threefold: to prevent scaling and blockage inside the pump; Prevent deformation of the pump shaft; Turning can also bring lubricating oil to various lubrication points to prevent rusting of the shaft. Lubrication of the bearings is beneficial for immediate driving in emergency situations.
