What Should We Do For The Maintenance Of Stainless Steel Submersible Pumps

Aug 07, 2025

Maintenance and upkeep of stainless steel submersible pumps

1. If the water pump is not in use for a long time, it can be removed from the water, the pipeline can be removed, the parts can be collected, and the electric pump can be cleaned and treated with necessary rust prevention measures such as painting and applying rust proof oil. It should be properly maintained and placed. Special attention should be paid to the motor winding to avoid moisture and high temperature, ensuring normal operation when working again.
2. The bearing grease of the water pump must be replaced every 2000 hours of operation. Regularly check the axial clearance of the water pump impeller. As the usage time increases, the axial clearance between the impeller and its mating position increases due to wear. Therefore, by adjusting the impeller to the appropriate position by adding or removing shims on the shaft, the technical state can be restored to avoid jamming.
3. During use, it is important to regularly clean the inlet and outlet holes of the motor and the inlet cover of the water pump to prevent blockage.

4. Regularly check whether the power supply and water pump start protector are damaged; Are the screws and nuts loose.
Before reusing the water pump after long-term placement or long-term disuse, the pump casing should be disassembled to rotate the impeller flexibly. To prevent damage to the surface anti rust coating during use, which may cause parts to rust and fail to function properly, and burn out the motor.
6. Emphasize the quality of repairs. When the water pump has a major malfunction, it should be repaired by a professional manufacturer or a maintenance department designated by the manufacturer. Ensure the quality and performance of water pump maintenance.

Common troubleshooting of stainless steel submersible pumps

(1) The water pump cannot start

One situation is that after closing, the motor does not rotate and there is no sound. This indicates that the circuit is not connected. At this point, check if the power circuit is open and if the fuse is blown. If there are no abnormalities, it is possible that the motor stator winding is burnt out and should be removed, replaced, and rewired. Another situation is that the motor does not rotate and there is a buzzing sound after closing. In this case, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection. The reasons for this are:

1. One phase of the power cord or stator winding is not connected, resulting in phase reversal operation.
2. The voltage is too low. The possible reasons may be low power supply voltage, long cables with small cross-sections, and small transformer capacity, which should be investigated one by one.

null
3. If there are foreign objects in the pump body, damaged bearings or stuck bearings, and phenomena such as "shaft wrapping" and "biting" occur, the water pump should be inspected and cleaned.

(2) The water pump does not produce water, rarely or indirectly produces water after starting.

The reasons for its malfunction are:

1. The overcurrent parts such as the filter screen, water supply pipe, and guide shell are severely blocked or the water supply pipe is broken. At this point, it is common for the ammeter reading to increase and the pointer to swing violently. The machine should be stopped immediately for inspection and cleaning.
2. The motor is running normally but the water output is low. The reason is that the water pump configuration is unreasonable, and the actual head exceeds the rated head of the water pump by too much, requiring the replacement of a higher head water pump. It is also possible that the water pump is reversing, just adjust any two of the lead wires in opposite directions. If the sealing ring or impeller is excessively worn, it should be removed and replaced in a timely manner.
3. The main reason why the motor runs normally but does not produce water is that the dynamic water level drops too much during the pumping process. The valves of the water supply pipe can be reduced or the water pump can be placed half a meter below the dynamic water level.

(3) The unit rotates violently, vibrates loudly, and produces loud noise

The reasons for this are:

1. If the guide bearing of the water pump is worn, the shaft swings inside the bearing, or the shaft bends and causes eccentric wear, the ammeter reading increases, the pointer swings violently, and the unit vibrates, the machine should be stopped immediately to replace the guide bearing or straighten the shaft.

null
2. The fastening bolts of the impeller are loose, and the collision and friction between the impeller and the guide housing cause vibration of the pump body. The water pump should be lifted out and the bolts should be tightened.
3. The wear of the thrust bearing causes friction between the impeller front baffle and the guide pipe, and the ammeter pointer swings violently. If there is obvious friction sound, the thrust bearing should be replaced immediately, and the impeller should also be replaced if it is severely worn.
4. The balance between the motor rotor and the rotating part of the pump itself is not qualified, causing vibration of the unit during rotation. The motor rotor and water pump impeller should be removed for dynamic and static balance tests to achieve a balanced state.

Reasonable design and excellent manufacturing are important prerequisites for the service life of water pumps. Reasonable use and timely and appropriate maintenance are also important means to unleash the potential of products and extend their expected service life. Only by ensuring that the water pump operates without faults, promptly clearing and eliminating faults, avoiding expansion, reducing maintenance frequency and costs, can the maximum efficiency of the water pump be achieved.
