Share Several Ways To Increase The Self-priming Capacity Of Unobstructed Sewage Pumps

Feb 27, 2025

Measures to improve the self-priming performance of self-priming non clogging sewage pumps:

(1) Increase the maximum circumferential velocity at the impeller outlet and the width of the impeller blade outlet, where the maximum circumferential velocity at the impeller outlet can be achieved by directly increasing the impeller speed by increasing the impeller. However, excessively increasing the maximum circumferential velocity of the impeller outlet and the width of the impeller blade outlet will change the basic performance parameters of the pump such as flow rate and head. Therefore, the maximum circumferential velocity of the impeller outlet and the width of the impeller blade outlet should be appropriately increased on the premise that the flow rate and head of the pump meet the requirements for use.

(2) The relationship between water storage capacity and self-priming performance: As the water storage capacity increases, the self-priming height of the pump significantly increases. However, when the water output is too large, it slows down the process of gas discharge, which increases the self-priming time. Therefore, when the self-priming height requirement is high but the self-priming time requirement is not too strict, the storage capacity of the pump can be increased, that is, the storage chamber volume can be increased. However, when the self-priming time requirement is strict, the size of the storage chamber should be reasonably determined.

(3) The relationship between reflux hole area, self-priming time, and self-priming height: Within the critical reflux hole area, as the reflux hole area increases, the self-priming time decreases and the self-priming height decreases accordingly. Therefore, when the self suction time requirement is strict and the self suction height requirement is not high, the area of the reflux hole can be appropriately increased. Conversely, the area of the reflux hole should be appropriately reduced.

(4) Setting up a gas-liquid separation acceleration device can accelerate gas-liquid separation, which can shorten the self-priming time. The simplest gas-liquid separation acceleration device is to add baffles in the gas-liquid separation chamber. As shown in Figure 1. Adding baffles in the gas-liquid separation chamber has almost no effect on the self-priming height. So, as long as the structure allows, baffles should be installed in the gas-liquid separation chamber to accelerate gas-liquid separation and shorten the self-priming time.

Improve the self-priming capacity of non clogging sewage pumps:

(1) Install a suction bottom valve at the end of the suction pipe of the self-priming unobstructed sewage pump. The suction bottom valve is actually a check valve that ensures that water can only enter the suction pipe from the pool and cannot flow back. Therefore, if the suction pipe is filled with water, although the pump axis elevation is higher than the working water level of the pool, due to the action of the suction bottom valve, the water in the suction pipe will not flow into the pool, which can keep the suction pipe full of water and ensure that the pump can start automatically and quickly. The reliability of this water suction method is affected by the quality of the water suction bottom valve. For example, if it is not tightly closed or leaks, the water in the suction pipe will slowly flow into the pool. Over time, there will be no water in the suction pipe, resulting in the need for manual water filling when the water pump is started.

(2) The self-priming unobstructed sewage pump reduces the bends, drop height, and horizontal distance of the inlet pipeline.

(3) The self-priming unobstructed sewage pump is equipped with a pre pump suction tank. This method requires setting up a suction tank on the suction pipe of the water pump. Before the first operation of the water pump, the tank should be manually filled with water. After the first operation stops, because the height of the inlet pipe of the suction tank is higher than the height of the water surface in the pipe, although the height of the water surface in the pool is lower than that in the tank, the water in the tank will not flow back and enter the pool. Therefore, the suction tank can store a certain amount of water. Also, because the height of the outlet pipe of the suction tank (i.e. the suction pipe of the water pump) is lower than the height of the water surface in the pipe, it can ensure that the suction pipe of the water pump is filled with water. In the future, when the water pump runs again, the water in the tank is pumped away by the water pump, and negative pressure appears in the tank. The water in the pool is Inside the water tank of the suction tank.

(4) The self-priming sewage pump is equipped with a vacuum pump on the suction pipe of the water pump. Before starting the water pump, the vacuum pump starts first to fill the suction pipe with water, ensuring that the water pump starts automatically and quickly. This water absorption method requires a complete automatic control system to ensure normal operation.
