To Extend The Service Life Of Submersible Pumps, Several Details Need To Be Noted

Mar 04, 2025

In order to extend the service life of submersible pumps, specialized protectors are essential, such as commonly used leak protectors and overheat protection equipment. In addition to the essential protector, we also need to pay attention to the following issues during use

1, Arrange the submersible pump in the correct direction of motor rotation to ensure the correct direction of motor rotation. Nowadays, many submersible electric pumps can produce water in both forward and reverse directions, but the water output is small and the current is high during reverse rotation, which can damage the motor over time.

2, Ensure that the voltage is normal before restarting. Due to the long length of the low-voltage power supply line, it is common for the voltage at the end of the line to be too low. When the voltage is too low, the speed of the submersible pump motor decreases. When it does not reach 70% of the speed, the centrifugal switch will close, causing the starting winding to be energized for a long time and generate heat, even burning out the capacitor. Excessive voltage can cause the motor to overheat and burn out the windings. So when the power supply voltage is 10% lower than the rated voltage or 10% higher than the rated voltage, the motor should be stopped, the cause should be identified, and the fault should be eliminated.

3, The insulation resistance requirements for cable installation and submersible electric pump installation: When installing a submersible pump, the cable should be overhead and the power line should not be too long. When launching or lifting the submersible pump, the cable should not be subjected to force to avoid causing the power line to break. When the submersible pump is working, do not sink into the mud, otherwise it may cause poor heat dissipation of the motor and burn out the motor winding. During installation, the insulation resistance should not be less than 0.5M.

4, The installation of leakage protectors can easily cause electrical energy loss and even electric shock accidents due to the underwater operation of submersible pumps. The leakage protector will cut off the power supply and ensure safety when the leakage value of the submersible pump exceeds the operating current value of the leakage protector.

5, Avoid frequent starting and turning on/off the submersible pump, as it will generate backflow when the electric pump stops. If it is turned on immediately, it will cause the motor load to start, resulting in excessive starting current and burning out the winding.

6, Avoid long-term overload operation of submersible electric pumps. Do not pump water with high sediment content and observe whether the current value is within the specified value on the nameplate at any time. If excessive current is found, stop the machine for inspection.

7, Pay attention to daily maintenance and regularly check the motor. If cracks, damaged or ineffective rubber seals are found on the lower cover, they should be replaced or repaired in a timely manner to avoid water infiltration into the submersible pump.
