Before installing the inlet pipe, insert it from the pump inlet and measure the gap with a feeler gauge. If the gap is too small, it will increase the wear at the mouth ring; Excessive increase in reflux loss will lower the efficiency of the pump.

It is related to the diameter, according to the design specifications such as API610 standard.

Small pump, pump with low operating temperature, single-sided clearance of 0.15~0.3mm; Larger pumps, pumps with higher operating temperatures, and pumps that require less precision can range from 0.3 to 0.5mm, and even larger pumps can reach 1mm or more.
