Wear Law Of Slurry Pump Impeller

Oct 18, 2024

The impeller of the slurry pump is the most important component in the operation of the slurry pump. If the impeller malfunctions and wears out, it will directly affect the operation of the water pump. So what are the reasons for the wear of the impeller of the slurry pump?

The geometric parameters of the impeller will affect its wear and determine the performance of the slurry pump. The design of the inlet and outlet angles of the impeller usually has a significant impact on the wear of the impeller. If the inlet angle is too large or too small, with the flow of the mixed liquid, when the abrasive particles reach the inlet of the impeller, the direction of motion changes from axial to radial. Due to the effects of inertia and centrifugal force, the particles are easily concentrated at the rear cover plate, and the part of the impeller blade head near the rear cover plate is prone to severe wear, which will exacerbate the change in inlet angle and lead to increased wear at that location. Similarly, when the outlet angle is not selected appropriately, the abrasive particles will also change their direction of movement after flowing with the liquid to the outlet of the impeller, which will cause wear near the outlet angle of the impeller blades.

The impeller wear of slurry pump mainly includes the following aspects:

1. In the lower concentration range, the wear intensity of the pump impeller blades is proportional to the concentration of the solid particles being transported. The higher the concentration, the smaller the unit wear amount, making it more economical to pump the slurry.

2. The main wear area caused by large abrasive particles is close to the blade head, while the main wear area caused by small abrasive particles is close to the outlet section of the blade pressure surface.

3. The inlet angle of the blade has a significant impact on the wear intensity, while the outlet angle has little effect on the wear intensity, but affects the degree of local wear. When the outlet angle is too small, wear is prone to concentrate in the outlet section of the blade, while when the outlet angle is too large, severe wear occurs along the pressure surface of the blade. Reasonable selection of blade parameters is not only beneficial for improving the hydraulic performance of slurry pumps, but also for enhancing their wear resistance.

4. The wear intensity of pump impeller blades is related to the pump speed to the power of 5. In the design of slurry pumps, lower speeds should be preferred as much as possible, especially when transporting high concentrations of solid materials.

The selection of materials for accessories such as impeller of slurry pump is also very important, which directly affects the service life of slurry pump
